Reviews

The following is a review of the Thursday, September 25th performance when Daniella Castoria and Joy Del Valle played the parts of Anita and Rosalia respectively. The production’s lightning rod is Daniella Castoria’s Anita (usually portrayed by Amanda Castro), who fuses dancer’s attack with a vocalist’s bite. In “America,” she makes wit feel like victory; in “A Boy Like That/I Have a Love,” she erupts in grief-tinted fury before finding tremulous compassion.

– LA Excites

Daniella Castoria’s Anita was fiercely charismatic.

-Indulge Magazine

In last night’s performance, Anita was performed by Daniella Castoria, and Rosalia (usually performed by Daniella Castoria) was performed by Joy Del Valle. Both were wonderful in their roles.

-ArtsBeatLa

Daniella Castoria was also very good as Rosalia.

-LA Dance Chronicle

Daniella Castoria proved she is indeed a triple threat as Anita.

– The Sandpaper

Audiences will particularly appreciate Castoria’s portrayal of the arc that the character of Anita traverses, especially from the euphoria and idealism she exhibits in act one to the sense of despair and betrayal she undergoes in act two. Castoria is also fun-loving and energetic. Theatrically, she too is a true triple threat.

– WGCU Arts Reporter Tom Hall

Daniella Castoria is the iconic Diana Morales, a streetwise, yet eternal optimist from the Bronx. She sings “Nothing,” in a brava performance, which reveals her character to be funny, charming, and vulnerable, and also leads the company in the show’s power anthem, “What I Did for Love."

– The Show Report

Daniella Castoria strongly sung “Nothing.
